2017 Audi RS 5 Coupe coming this summer, boasts 444bhp

The new Audi RS 5 Coupe has been unveiled at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Orders for the hardcore performance model are expected to start in May, with deliveries following during this summer.

With the latest A5 range having already launched in Coupe and Sportback forms, and the Cabriolet version imminent, the RS 5 completes this Audi car’s entire range.

For those that want even more performance than what’s offered by the S5, the new RS 5 has an all-new 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine. This V6 is connected to an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox and a Quattro four-wheel drive set-up.

The engine delivers 444bhp and 600Nm of torque, which in comparison to the previous RS 5 is the same power output but 170Nm extra torque. The 0-62mph sprint time is just 3.9 seconds and, with the relevant option pack chosen, the top speed is 174mph.

Official fuel economy is 32.5mpg combined and CO2 emissions are 197g/km. The Audi is now 17 per cent more efficient than before and a weight reduction of 60kg plays a large part in that improvement.

Standard kit for the new RS 5 includes sports seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and Audi’s virtual cockpit display. The options list includes a sport differential, dynamic ride control with sports suspension, ceramic brakes and diamond stitching for the seats.

Pricing for the new RS 5 is likely to start from roughly £60,000.
