The new BMW M5 super saloon is due to make its official public debut this September at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. But the public can already catch a glimpse of what the new car looks like, in digital form at least, thanks to images released of the upcoming driving game, Need For Speed Payback.
Details and screenshots of the latest instalment in the popular Need For Speed franchise have recently been released to the public. The game allows players to race and perform stunts in various real-life cars and the next-generation BMW M5 is confirmed among the cars that will feature in the new entry.
A couple of the screenshots released give us a good idea as to what the front of the new M5 will look like. Like past M5 models, the new super saloon appears to have a sharper, more aggressive look, compared to the 5 Series which it is based on.
Noticeable design highlights include large angular vents, the new signature hexagonal lighting signature and of course the distinctive M5 badge on the trademark kidney front grille.
According to reports on the performance of the new M5, the super saloon will feature a four-wheel drive powertrain and a twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that’ll produce approximately 600bhp. The V8 engine is the same 4.4-litre unit featured in the previous M5, offering even more power than ever before.
The V8 will be hooked up to an eight-speed ZF gearbox to ensure super-smooth power delivery. It’s estimated that the new M5 will be able to hit 62mph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds.
