2018 Dacia Duster still great value and here's why

The Dacia Duster is widely known for its impressive value for money, and the latest edition is no exception! Here’s why…

Dacia is well-known for producing budget cars that have plenty of charm and the bare essentials, and the latest version of its Duster SUV is no exception.

The rugged looks and performance of the original Duster made it a perfect compact crossover that could actually go on the rough stuff without much hassle.

Here we have a look at the 2018 version and prove why it is still just as good…

Efficient engine line-up

Much like the original version, the 2018 Duster can be fitted with cheap-to-run power units, and in this case, customers can choose from either a petrol or a diesel unit. Both produce 114bhp and can be paired to a four-wheel drive system – but the diesel edges it out in terms of efficiency, as it can return 64.2mpg. Both come with a manual transmission for simplicity.

Rugged looks remain

To fit in with the current market trends, the Duster comes with rugged SUV styling and the compact crossover looks perfectly capable of tackling paths off the beaten track. A new grille has been added to the 2018 version for a stronger front look, but it also gets modern tweaks like LED daytime running lights and extra body creases.

Improved interior comfort and space

Although storage space in the back has stayed the same when compared to its predecessor – 445 litres for the 2WD and 376 litres for the 4WD – overall space has improved. Cabin storage is up by almost 29 litres, and the cabin layout has been simplified and easier to function. The central console is higher than before and the infotainment touchscreen is also closer to make it easier to use. Quality has also improved, with exterior noise reduced with extra sound-proofing and the seats now fitted with denser foam for improved comfort.

This is the most advanced Duster yet

Although not all of the tech is available on every model, the Duster can now come with keyless entry, climate control and blind spot warning – proving that even budget cars can come with decent tech. The Duster also gets automatic headlight activation for the first time.

Prices are still very reasonable

As you would expect from Dacia, Dusters are still incredibly affordable, with prices starting from just £9,995. Models can go from £16,395, but these are the tricked-out models that come with all the tech, and customers will be more than happy with many of the mid-spec options, starting from around £13,500.
