2019 Kia e-Niro all-electric crossover revealed

The all-new e-Niro is the first all-electric crossover produced by Kia and goes on sale in Europe late 2018.

After the global success of the Niro hybrid models, Kia has announced the all-electric e-Niro at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

With the e-Niro, Kia has tapped into two expanding markets - crossovers and electric vehicles.

The design is inspired by the futuristic Niro EV Concept from earlier this year, and the production car features elements exclusive to this all-electric variant. This includes the brand’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille, which has an integrated charging point.

Speaking of charging, the e-Niro takes just 42 minutes (on a 100kW fast charger) to charge from 20 per cent to 80 per cent. On a singe charge the car has a maximum range of 301 miles.

In addition, the e-Niro has innovative technology to harvest and conserve electric energy to ensure you go further, such as regenerative braking.

The new technology and features continue into the interior – the design of the centre console being the biggest one. It features a new panel for the drive select dial, as well as heated and ventilated seats.

The seven-inch instrument cluster displays useful information like battery charge and percentage of ‘economical’ driving managed on a journey. This is all to help maximise the efficiency of its electric powertrain.

The new e-Niro is an exciting car to come from Kia, offering zero-emission driving without having to sacrifice crossover practicality.  Following its release later this year it will come with the brand’s industry-leading seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty.
