Fiat has revealed a brand-new generation of its iconic 500, with the model making the switch to all-electric power.
Set to arrive in the UK early in 2021 and launching initially as a convertible, it sits on Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s (FCA) new electric car platform. The result is a car that’s now a little longer, wider and taller than the outgoing 500.
It retains a very similar look to its predecessor, albeit with some fresh modern tweaks. These include new flush door handles and altered LED head- and taillights.
Powering the car is a 117bhp electric motor which draw electricity from a 42kWh battery pack. Fiat claims the new 500 is capable of 199 miles between charges, with the battery said to be replenished to 80 per cent in just 35 minutes thanks to fast-charging technology.

Pricing for the all-electric Fiat 500 kicks off at £29,000 including the £3,500 government plug-in car grant for launch edition models, though it’s expected more affordable lower-grade variants will be revealed in due course. No word on internal combustion variants, though.
