Abarth unleashes limited-edition 695 Biposto Record

Abarth has unveiled a limited-edition version of its race-ready 695 Biposto, the funky and ferocious 695 Biposto Record.

Featuring an exclusive Modena Yellow finish with grey trimmings and exclusive ‘695 Record’ badging, only 133 examples of the striking Record model will be made, priced from £36,610.

Larger Brembo brakes, 18-inch alloy wheels and a throaty aftermarket exhaust courtesy of Slovakian exhaust experts Akrapovic also come as standard, plus carbon shell seats and four-point seatbelts.

The Abarth 695 Biposto Record has been built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Carlo Abarth breaking a new acceleration record in a Class G car at the Monzda race track, aged 57.

Unable to find the right driver for the job, he personally decided to lose nearly five stone in weight in order to be able to slip into the cockpit himself and drive it to victory in 1965.

Gerry Southerington, Abarth UK’s brand manager, said: “The stunning Modena Yellow colour is enough reason for anyone to want to own a 695 Biposto Record.

“Add in the awesome performance, the standard equipment, the history, and the fact that only 133 examples will be made, we are confident that the car represents a very desirable package that will strike a chord with the Abarth enthusiast.”

Based on the sporty two-seather 695 Biposto, the Record version is powered by the same 187bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, and weighs in at a mere 997kg.

According to Abarth, it has the best power-to-weight ratio in its category and is capable of reaching 62mph from a standstill in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed that clocks in at 143mph.
