Aston Martin has unveiled its first SUV – the new DBX, which aims to accelerate the model’s sales worldwide in this new market.
The model has been teased and spied testing for some time, but has now been unveiled – incorporating styling cues from models such as the DB11 and Vantage. It will also be built at an all-new manufacturing plant in St Athan, Wales – strengthening the UK automotive industry at these challenging times.
Powered by a 4.0-litre V8 borrowed and tweaked from Aston Martin’s sports cars, the DBX produces 542bhp and 700Nm of torque. That equates to a 0-60mph time of 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 181mph. A nine-speed automatic transmission sends the power to all four wheels.
As well as being the first SUV from Aston Martin, it’s also its first true five-seater. Even though they’ve sold saloons before, these have always been four-seat models. While it’s not set to be a car to challenge a Range Rover off-road, the model has been extensively tested on rough terrain
It’s also been tailored to be as useful as possible, with a 632-litre boot allowing for a host of luggage solutions – carrying ski equipment and golf clubs, for example.
As with every other Aston Martin, those with deeper pockets will be able to utilise Aston Martin’s ‘Q’ division to create a bespoke model.
The DBX is available to order now, with prices starting from £158,800, with first deliveries expected in Q2 2020.

The DBX is available to order now, with prices starting from £158,800, with first deliveries expected in Q2 2020. The firm is hoping it could boost its sales by as much as two thirds.
The first 500 DBX buyers will also get a ‘1913 Package’ – featuring cues celebrating Aston Martin’s 106-year history.
