The 2017 Audi SQ5 will start from £51,200 when it launches in the UK, with first deliveries expect to take place this June.
The latest performance-enhanced version of Audi’s popular mid-sized SUV is 35kg lighter than before and driven by a 3.0-litre turbo V6 petrol engine producing 349bhp and 500Nm of torque. The same engine features in the latest S5 Coupe and Sportback.
Styling-wise, the new SQ5 is more in line with the looks of the latest Audi Q5 but unsurprisingly adds some sportier detailing. The bumpers and air vents have a more aggressive appearance and there’s 20-inch alloys and a diffuser at the back to complete the car’s more muscular profile.
Previously, the Audi SQ5 was sold exclusively with a turbodiesel engine in the UK. With the new model though, the V6 petrol remains the only option for now.
Both Quattro all-wheel drive and an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox are standard with the new V6-driven SQ5. Another feature is active torque control which can brake the inside wheel as you enter corners to improve the SUV’s driving dynamics.
The new SQ5 covers the 0-62mph sprint in 5.4 seconds. It also officially averages 34mpg and emits 189g/km of CO2.
Standard kit in the new SQ5 includes leather sports seats and a leather steering wheel, while the options list has the likes of Matrix LED headlights and Audi’s virtual cockpit display for the dashboard.
