Audi unleashes more powerful R8 Performance RWD

New model gains a significant boost in power

Audi has released an updated version of its R8 Performance RWD.

The firm’s V10-powered rear-wheel-drive supercar now gains a significant boost in power and torque. It’s also available as either a coupe or drop-top Spyder, too, with both versions utilising a range of weight-saving measures to ensure that they stay as lightweight as possible. These include a full aluminium structure alongside the use of carbon fibre reinforced plastic panels.

The naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 - the same as that found in the previous R8 - now kicks out 562bhp and 550Nm of torque - respective increases of 30bhp and 10Nm of torque.

Sent through a seven-speed automatic gearbox, this is enough to drive the R8 RWD from 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 204mph. A mechanical limited-slip differential helps to manage the car’s power, too.

The R8 Performance RWD acts as an entry point to the R8 range in the UK. With prices starting from £126,885 for the coupe or £135,575 for the Spyder, standard equipment is generous with highlights including 19-inch forged alloy wheels, sport seats and Audi’s 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit display placed ahead of the driver.

Those wanting to up the exclusivity of their R8 can now opt for the Edition version. This adds a host of high-end features, including bronze-coloured 20-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather-trimmed seats and an upgraded Bang & Olufsen stereo.
