Audi has unveiled a sleek new version of its Q5 that joins the firm’s expanding range of ‘coupe’-like SUVs.
Joining similar versions of the Q3 and e-tron, this new Q5 is the first time this mid-size SUV has received the Sportback treatment, and it looks to rival the BMW X4 and Mercedes GLC Coupe.
Based on the recently-updated third-generation Q5, it benefits from a large grille, LED headlights and new digital ‘OLED’ lighting that can allow customers to choose their own design signature.
However, it’s from the middle of the car onwards that this Sportback is different as the roof tapers off much quicker than the regular model. It’s also slightly longer than the regular Q5, though its width and height are identical. The boot space has reduced from 550 litres to 510 litres, though it should remain a practical SUV option.
Inside it comes with Audi’s 12.3-inch digital Virtual Cockpit as standard, along with the firm’s updated 10.1-inch media screen, as shown on the standard Q5 recently.
The engine line-up at launch includes two 201bhp 2.0-litre petrol engines - the 40 TFSI petrol and the 40 TDI diesel, with each coming with a seven-speed S tronic automatic gearbox. A 342bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbo SQ5 will join the range later, as will a pair of plug-in hybrids.
Four trim levels will be available – Sport, S line, Vorsprung and Edition One – with prices likely to start from around £45,000, making it around £1,500 more expensive than the standard Q5.
First deliveries are expected in Spring 2021.
