Bentley reveals world’s fastest SUV – the Bentayga Speed

Taking the title from the Lamborghini Urus, the Bentley comes with a 6.0-litre W12 engine developing 626bhp and is capable of 190mph.

Bentley has unveiled the world’s fastest production SUV – the Bentayga Speed.

Based on the luxurious sports utility vehicle, the Speed is fitted with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 that develops 626bhp and 900Nm of torque. That’s enough to catapult the Bentayga from 0-60mph in just 3.7 seconds – before topping out at 190mph.

To put that power down, Bentley fits the Bentayga with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission – with drivers able to alter how the car is set up through four driving modes.

With the Comfort, Bentley and Custom modes carried over from the standard Bentayga, Bentley has added the Sport setting, which alters the responsiveness of the engine and transmission as well as changing the suspension and Dynamic Ride setup for “a sportier and engaging drive.”

The ceramic brakes fitted are also the ‘largest ever used’ on a Bentley, while also being 20kg lighter than the standard iron brakes.

Bentley has applied a sportier bodykit to the Bentayga with the Speed model, such as bumpers that sit closer to the road, front and rear splitters, and a tailgate-mounted spoiler – while dark detailing has been fitted to the lights and radiator grille. 22-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard.

But the high-end finish has not been lost inside, as Bentley has fitted the Speed with Alcantara upholstery – a first for the Bentayga – that features contrast stitching, while carbon fibre panels and metal ‘Speed’ plates are also installed.

Prices for this special version are yet to be announced, with the Bentayga Speed making its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next month.
