BMW i3 updated with improved range and trim options

The battery pack’s capacity has been improved to 120Ah for increased range, while new features have also been added.

BMW has announced updates to the i3 electric car, including a larger battery to increase range.

The range of the i3 in normal driving conditions is now 161 miles – up from 124 miles with the previous version.

Power outputs for both models have remained unchanged, with the i3 offering 168bhp and the i3s developing 182bhp from its electric motor.

The battery pack can be charged to 80 per cent at a 50 kw fast charger in just 42 minutes, while home charging will take 15 hours to 80 per cent through a standard wall socket.

Customers can now spec the standard i3 with the sports package, which adds stiffened suspension, a lower ride height, wider track and 20-inch black or bicolour alloy wheels. All of those come as standard on the i3s.
