BMW iX3 Named 2026 What Car? Car of the Year

The BMW iX3 has been crowned 2026 What Car? Car of the Year, with judges praising its long electric range, ultra-fast charging capability and everyday usability.

A standout feature is its claimed WLTP range of up to 500 miles, making it the longest-range electric vehicle available in the UK at launch. The iX3 also supports 400kW DC fast charging, allowing drivers to add up to 231 miles of range in around 10 minutes, helping reduce downtime on longer journeys.

Built on BMW’s new Neue Klasse electric platform, the iX3 50 xDrive M Sport combines a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup with up to 469bhp, enabling 0–62mph in 4.9 seconds. Despite the performance on offer, BMW has focused on refinement and comfort, particularly for longer journeys.

The iX3 is available to order now, with first UK deliveries expected from 7 March 2026. Prices start at £58,755, undercutting the previous iX3 while offering more range, faster charging and additional standard equipment.

BMW also enjoyed success across other categories at the 2026 What Car? Awards, reinforcing its strong position across performance, luxury and safety segments.
