BMW has revealed an updated version of its electric iX3 SUV, which benefits from new trim levels and revised styling.
Following on from the recently-facelifted X3 – on which this electric model is based – the new version comes with a larger grille and slimmer LED headlights. It also comes with larger lower air intakes and new L-shaped blue accents at the edges of the front bumper to give the model a wider look. Certain cues are also shared with BMW’s new i4 and iX eclectic cars, too.
At the rear, the new LED headlights get a prominent black surround, while the iX3 gets sportier looks from the now-standard M Sport trim levels, including new side sills and a revised rear diffuser.
BMW’s more familiar M Sport and M Sport Pro trim levels replace the previous Premier Edition and Premier Pro Edition found previously, with standard equipment including black 19-inch alloy wheels, an electric boot, leather interior and a panoramic sunroof all included. Upgrading to the Pro grade adds keyless access, a Harman Kardon sound system and a head-up display to name but a few features.
The iX3’s powertrain remains unchanged, with a pair of electric motors developing 282bhp twinned with a 74kWh battery pack. BMW claims an electric range of 286 miles, while speedy 150kW rapid charging capability means it’s possible to charge this SUV’s battery from flat to 80 per cent in just 34 minutes.
Retail customers buying a new iX3 will also get a year’s access to ‘BMW Charging’, which is where a single RFID card gives easy access to more than 11,000 charging points across the UK, and – usefully for drivers that like to take their car abroad – 173,000 charging points in Europe.
Prices for the updated BMW iX3 start from £59,730 for the M Sport and £62,730 for the M Sport Pro. First deliveries are expected in December 2021.
