Check out Ken Block's new rallycross-spec Ford Focus RS

Ford Performance and the Hoonigan Racing Division have officially unveiled the first glimpse at Ken Block’s new rallycross-spec Ford Focus RS RX.

First teased at the tail end of Block’s latest Gymkhana 8 video, the RS RX is a specially-engineered version of the all-new, four-wheel drive Focus RS designed specifically for rallycross.

Block’s latest and arguably greatest tyre-shredder, with the exception of his 845hp Hoonicorn Mustang, also features an eyeball-searing paintjob courtesy of artist Felipe Pantone.

Upwards of 600bhp

The racing driver and DC Shoes founder said: “I’m a huge fan of Felipe’s work and I think it’s awesome that we were able to work together and have him create bespoke art in his signature style for us, that we were then able to translate to both new Ford Focus RS RX racecar.”

Over the standard RS, Block’s RX version also features aggressive aero additions like a massive rear wing, downright nasty-looking side vents and an enlarged front splitter to increase downforce.

Although the Focus RS is powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, the RX actually uses a 2.0-litre engine, but it develops upwards of 600bhp, with a 0-62mph time of under two seconds.

'Faux' mid-mounted engine setup

If that sounds absolutely bonkers, well, it is. But it’s also actually pretty standard for international rallycross, with hatchbacks faster and more powerful than even a top-spec Nissan GT-R.

Inside, the car’s decked in carbon fibre fitments and a button-covered steering wheel, which even boasts a special ‘Hoon’ button fitted by Ford’s official rally partners M-Sport.

Interestingly, the car also features a unique set-back driving position, placing Block further back in the cabin and allowing the engine to be moved further back for a sort of faux mid-mounted setup.

Livery by Felipe Pantone

On his Instagram, Block posted: “Anyone notice something unusual about this photo? Hint: it's got a lot to do with my seating position in the new Ford Focus RS RX race car. Which is absolutely ridiculous, in a good way. Ha.”

Further details on the Focus RS RX have yet to be announced, but the car is due to make its debut at the FIA World Rallycross stop in Portugal this month, piloted by Block and teammate Andreas Bakkerud.
