Cupra teases race car that will preview new EV

Concept model previews affordable electric car due in 2025

Cupra has given us the first glimpse of its upcoming entry-level electric vehicle with new teaser images of the UrbanRebel concept car.

Though this show car is a racing model, Cupra says it ‘gives an idea of the future design’ of the upcoming affordable EV due in 2025. Shown purely in teaser images so far, the UrbanRebel features a huge rear wing that’s wrapped around the full width of the car, and integrates narrow LED lights into the spoiler too.

A short video accompanying the teaser image also shows LED lighting at the front and the same sharp lines expected from Cupra’s models. The concept’s compact dimensions can also clearly be seen in the video.

Though details are still limited, this new EV will be one of the first cars to use the Volkswagen Group’s ‘MEB Entry’ platform, which aims to make EVs more affordable.

Cupra already sells plug-in hybrid versions of its Leon hatchback and estate, as well as of its Formentor SUV. The brand’s first EV – the Born – is also reaching showrooms at the start of 2022, and aims to impress with its sporty driving experience.

The Cupra UrbanRebel concept is set to be fully revealed next week, and will also make its debut at the IAA Munich International Motor Show the following week.
