Learner drivers set to take their driving tests today and tomorrow have had them cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Driving and Vehicle Standards Authority (DVSA) had previously said that tests would continue as normal, though this change now suggests future ones could be put on hold, though nothing has been confirmed after Friday, tomorrow. The move doesn’t just include driving tests, but also theory tests and approved driving instructor (ADI) standards checks.
Those that have had their tests cancelled will have them rebooked free of charge as soon as possible, the DVSA added, and they will receive an email as soon as the test has been rearranged.
The government body is also urging anyone with coronavirus symptoms, which include a high temperature and a new, continuous cough, to cancel their driving test and rearrange.

If your test is more than three days away, it can be cancelled via the DVSA website, but if it’s within three working days, you’ll need to email them giving your full name and driving licence number.
Tom Hixon, Head of Instructor Support at Bill Plant Driving School, said: “We’re sure that there are many test-ready Britons around the UK that are going to be disappointed by this news, however we all need respect the unprecedented measures set by the DVSA via Government advice due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
