French brand DS has unveiled a limited-run version of its 3 hatchback that is inspired by “the latest trends in fashion and Parisian chic style”.

Called the ‘Black Lézard Limited Edition’, this version of the DS 3 comes with unique design cues that set it apart from the rest of the hatchback’s line-up.

The stand-out feature is the 3D reptile skin-print roof that continues onto the spoiler and tops of the doors, which complements one of the four body colours – black, grey, blue or purple.

Other exterior features include gloss black A-pillars, 17-inch alloy wheels, DS’s LED vision headlights and electronically-folding heated wing mirrors.

The interior is trimmed in black leather, with the seats, steering wheel, dashboard and gear stick covered in the material.

All orders also come with Black Lézard leather wallet or clutch bag in the style of the car’s roof design.

DS styling director Thierry Metroz said: “From a style perspective we wanted to create an element of the car that would be unique in its appearance. We were inspired by the world of fashion, haute couture and leather goods to create DS 3 Black Lézard.”

Eric Apode, the brand’s vice-president for products and business development, added: “The opportunity to personalise DS 3 reflects the values of the DS brand. With DS 3 Black Lézard we have fused heritage and intense style by featuring a roof that draws inspiration from the beauty of reptile skin. The 3D effect also provides a very modern look.”

The DS 3 Black Lézard is priced at £19,545, with the model only being fitted with the PureTech 110 petrol engine paired to a manual gearbox.

Only 100 models will be delivered to the UK, with the order books open now.
