Facelifted Land Rover Discovery Sport revealed

The updated SUV features much of the same tech as the new Range Rover Evoque, along with a new plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Land Rover has revealed its facelifted Discovery Sport, which sees a much-improved interior, while also featuring far more tech than before.

The styling largely remains the same as the pre-facelift model, although look closely and you’ll notice new signature LED front and rear lights, as well as an updated front grille and new bumpers.

But the greatest improvements are seen on the cabin, which features a new infotainment system and better connectivity features through the Touch Pro system, which features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a 4G WiFi hotspot. It’s also taken a further step upmarket, with the feeling more premium.

Land Rover’s smallest seven-seater is also now more flexible, with up to 24 different seating combinations available, as well as additional cubby holes for storage.

Despite only being a facelift, the Discovery Sport now sits on an all-new platform that underpins the latest Range Rover Evoque. This allow for electrification, with 48-volt mild-hybrid options offered across the range, while a three-cylinder petrol plug-in hybrid variant is due later in the year.

In the meantime, buyers can choose from the three 2.0-litre diesel engines (producing 148bhp, 177bhp and 237bhp) and two 2.0-litre petrol engines, producing 197bhp or 247bhp.

Technology first seen on the Range Rover Evoque is also implemented on the Discovery Sport – such as Ground View, which allows for images to be projected onto the windscreen, and effectively make the bonnet invisible, allowing drivers to be able to park in tight spaces and deal with rugged terrain more easily. A digital rear-view mirror also appears on the options list.

Four trim levels are offered – Standard, S, SE and HSE – with each one available with a more stylish R-Dynamic upgrade package.

The new Discovery Sport is available to order now, with prices starting from £31,575 and rising to £49,675.
