Facelifted Nissan Micra gets new engines and trim level

Two petrol engines with increased efficiency have been added, as well as a CVT automatic transmission and new infotainment.

Nissan has revealed two new petrol engines for the Micra supermini, as well as a series of other updates.

Both new power options are derived from turbocharged 1.0-litre units, with a new top-end option developing 115bhp and is labelled as the performance-angled option of the Micra range.

Paired to a six-speed manual transmission, this unit can get the Micra from 0-60mph in 9.9 seconds and return a claimed 47.9mpg. Emissions are 114g/km CO2.

The other option makes 99bhp and can be paired to either a five-speed manual or the Xtronic CVT automatic transmission. Nissan claims it can return up to 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 103-105g/km depending on the car’s specification.

Nissan is also providing a new trim level – N-Sport – which is an attempt to get the Micra into the warm hatch market with the Ford Fiesta ST-Line, Volkswagen Polo R-Line and Seat Ibiza FR.

N-Sport models come with a sportier look, such as gloss black mouldings, carbon-effect finish on the alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and N-Sport badging – while the cabin features Alcantara and leather upholstery, rear view camera with sensors and keyless entry and start.

The refreshed Micra also introduces the latest NissanConnect infotainment system, which features on all Micra models except the entry-level Visia.

The new system comes with voice recognition, 2D maps, real-time traffic information and Find My Car. Drivers can also personalise the layout of the screen depending on their preference.

Prices for the revised Micra start from £12,875, with new versions available to order now.
