Ford extends production of GT supercar

350 lucky applicants will get their hands on the American supercar, with 1,000 already produced.

Ford has extended the production series of the GT supercar by 350 units, with potential customers able to apply from next month due to ‘overwhelming customer demand’.

The next application stage opens on November 8, and people will have until December 8 to put their name down for consideration.

That will take the total number of GTs up to 1,350 by the end of its current production run, which has been extended from 2020 to 2022.

The Ford GT is fitted with a twin-turbocharged, 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine that develops 647bhp and 746Nm of torque and with that power, the GT can get from 0-60mph in three seconds and means it can reach a top speed of 216mph.

Ford Performance director Hermann Salenbauch, said: “The response to our Ford GT has been unprecedented, with demand outstripping supply more than six-to-one.
