Ford Kuga hits sales landmark as popularity surges

Ford has revealed that sales of its Kuga SUV in Britain have increased significantly to a record level, surpassing 30,000 units in 2015.

Compared with its performance in 2014, UK sales of the Ford Kuga have gone up by 35 per cent this year. 24,353 units of the Kuga were sold in Britain last year.

Ford’s data also shows that sales of the Kuga in Britain this year are three times greater than compared to five years ago. Back in 2010, Ford sold just over 11,500 examples of the Kuga in the UK.

This news has emerged following recent updates to the Kuga range, which included a new colour option called Green Instinct. A new derivative with an 118bhp 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine and the Titanium Sport trim level are other additions that have been introduced to the Ford Kuga fairly recently.

The Titanium Sport trim includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a full body styling kit, rear spoiler and Active Park Assist.

The Ford UK sales director, Kevin Griffin, commented: “Ford’s SUV line-up is going from strength-to-strength with a positive impact on Ford’s UK sales. With the new EcoSport reaching 10,000 orders so far this year and the range expanding to include the all-new Ford Edge, we expect SUV sales to treble by the end of 2016, compared with 2013.”

Pricing for the Ford Kuga range currently starts at £19,995.
