Happiest kind of driver revealed by survey

A survey has taken place to discover which of Britain’s drivers are the happiest.

The insurance specialist Zuto quizzed 2,000 people about details such as the car they drive, where they’re from, their age and how happy their cars makes them, plus which modifications were implicated in additional happiness.

Based on this survey’s results, the happiest car owners in Britain are men in Edinburgh aged between 25 and 34 who drive a silver-painted BMW.

The survey also found that drivers that add modifications to their cars are happier overall than those who don’t. The add-ons apparently most likely to boost a driver’s happiness are alloy wheels and tinted windows.

In contrast, the least happy drivers around are men aged 45 to 54 who drove a green Fiat and live in Nottingham.

The survey also found that the most joyous kind of drive for car owners is one featuring winding country lanes, in good weather. Also, the drive itself should be purely for entertainment, with no specific destination in mind.

The CEO of Zuto, James Wilkinson, commented: “For many people, owning a car opens up new avenues in terms of work and social life, so it's easy to see why motors are so closely tied to feelings of independence and our sense of self.”
