Kia releases pricing for updated Sportage

The updated version of the mid-size SUV is the first Kia to come with a mild-hybrid powertrain and is available in six trim levels from launch.

Kia has revealed prices and specs for the updated Sportage, with the SUV starting from £20,305.

Coming with a refreshed design on the front end thanks to a new version of Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille, the Sportage also gets new fog lamp housings, LED headlights with LED daytime running lights as well as additional silver and gloss detailing on higher end models.

New alloy designs have also been introduced alongside five body colours, while Kia has also revamped the interior with a new steering wheel, instrument cluster and air conditioning bezels.

This version of the Sportage also introduces new powertrains, such as the first Kia mild-hybrid that utilises a 2.0-litre diesel engine alongside a 48V electrical system to help with efficiency and reduce emissions. It is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. A new 1.6-litre diesel with two power options – 114bhp and 134bhp – can also be fitted to the Sportage.

Customers can also choose a 1.6-litre petrol engine that can be paired to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic.

The Sportage comes with six trim options from launch, with standard equipment in the base ‘1’ spec including 16-inch alloy wheels, projection front fog lights, LED daytime running lights, chrome detailing, black upholstery, leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear stick, air conditioning, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a DAB radio, Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity and cruise control. Pricing starts from £20,305.

Standard safety equipment includes trailer stability assist, hill-start assist and downhill brake control, with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, cruise control with speed limiter, forward collision assist and blind-spot collision warning available further up the trim options.

Kia is also celebrating the 25thanniversary of the Sportage with the Edition 25 trim, which is only fitted with the new 1.6-litre diesel alongside 17-inch alloy wheels, black cloth and leather upholstery, start/stop with smart keyless entry, an eight-speaker JBL sound system and satellite navigation. Edition 25 models start from £25,655.
