The Kia scrappage scheme is back, find out how you can save up to £2,000 on your next car with our in-depth guide.

Scrappage schemes were big news last year, with a large number of manufacturers incentivising new car customers with deals to trade in and scrap their old car.

Now, spearheaded by Kia, they could be about to make a comeback – with the Korean company launching a new scrappage scheme that’s available on some of its most popular cars. Here’s all you need to know to qualify…

What’s the deal?

Kia’s offer is pretty straightforward – scrap your old car through a Kia dealership and the company will automatically give you £2,000 off your new one, complete with a seven-year warranty.

The offer is only available on selected Kia models, though, and supersedes any other offers available, and you’re only allowed one scrappage allowance per new car – you can’t trade in two against one, for example.

Also, it’s only available to customers in the UK, Isle of Man and Channel Islands.

Which Kia models is it available on?

You can take advantage of the scrappage scheme if you buy any Kia Picanto, Rio or C’eed models. The company has also just extended the scheme to include the new Stonic small crossover, which is already one of the best value crossover models on the market.

Stonic £2,000
Rio £2,000

What vehicles are eligible as scrappage?

Unlike previous schemes that required vehicles to be a bit older, the Kia scheme means you can scrap any car built up to seven years ago – June 2011 being the cut-off date. It’s no surprise that Kia implies a seven-year cut-off as that’s the warranty it offers on its new cars. It’s something the company implies gives you hassle-free motoring for the life of a car…

Also, the car must have belonged to you for at least three months before you trade it in as scrappage.

How long is the offer on for?

You’ll need to rush – the offer is only available on the selected models up until the end of June, though Kia hasn’t ruled out the idea of extending the offer beyond that if it proves popular…
