Kia has announced that refreshed versions of the Niro Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid will be make their public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
Both models now come with an exterior design in-line with the all-electric e-Niro, an improved interior finish and new tech features.
The South Korean marque has given the Niro hybrid models new front and rear bumpers, redesigned headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED rear lights and new alloy wheel options.
Inside, Kia has made significant tech upgrades in the form of the optional 10.25-inch widescreen touchscreen and seven-inch instrument cluster display, which can be fitted instead of the standard eight-inch infotainment screen and 4.2-inch instrument panel.
Two colour packs have also been introduced and depending on the spec, customers can fit either Red-Orange or Plum trim – with the latter featuring plum-coloured perforated leather upholstery.
Both versions of the Niro use a 1.6-litre petrol engine that is teamed with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Hybrid pairs the combustion engine with a 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery pack, while the PHEV comes with an 8.9kWh unit.
See Available Niro dealsKia claims that the plug-in has an electric range of 30 miles on the combined cycle, with 65 miles of zero-emission city driving available.
The stop & go function has also been added to the Niro’s cruise control setup, with lane following assist also debuting on the two hybrids. Those functions join forward collision avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning and blind spot collision warning.
European sales for the Niro Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid will begin in Q2 of 2019, with UK prices to be revealed in due course.
