Mazda to unveil new Koeru concept in Frankfurt

Mazda has released teaser art of a new crossover concept called the Koeru, which is due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.

The marque says that the Koeru, named after the Japanese word for “exceed”, will make a “bold statement” in the increasingly crowded crossover segment upon its unveiling.

Following on from the release of the CX-3 compact crossover and the facelifted version of the CX-5, the latest Mazda crossover will once again aim to tap into the demand for larger but capable cars.

Styled according to the KODO design language like the rest of Mazda’s range, the Koeru concept will also feature the manufacturer’s fuel-saving SKYACTIV powertrains.

However, Mazda hasn’t released any information on how big it actually is yet, leading speculators to guess where in the range it’ll sit, with some believing it could be larger than Mazda’s current crossovers on sale, and be potentially called the CX-6.

The Mazda Koeru will be on display at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, alongside the new MX-5 and other vehicles from the Mazda range, between 15th and 27th September.
