Mini celebrates past rally heritage with new Paddy Hopkirk Edition

Paddy Hopkirk clinched a victory for Mini in the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally

Mini is marking its past sporting heritage by introducing a new limited-run version of its Cooper S hot hatch – the Paddy Hopkirk Edition.

Celebrating the achievements of the Northern Irish rally driver, Hopkirk clinched victory at the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally – a completely unexpected win due to this hatchback being down on power next to competitors.

And despite Mini currently having little involvement in rallying, the firm is looking to mark its past with this new limited-edition. Based on the 194bhp Mini HatchCooper S, the Paddy Hopkirk Edition comes with large ‘37’ lettering on both front doors of the car, as well as on the side scuttles when you open the car. It also comes with a white stripe which harks back to the 194 rally car, along with various signatures from the driver.

The Paddy Hopkirk Edition is limited to just 100 units and is based on the ‘Sport’ specification of the Cooper S – meaning it comes with a John Cooper Works styling kit, black 17-inch alloy wheels, a black styling pack and an Alcantara steering wheel on the cabin. It also features with MIni’s optional Navigation and Comfort packs included.

Prices for the Mini Paddy Hopkirk Edition start from £27,405, with order books now open. First deliveries are expected in November.
