Mitsubishi ASX receives new diesel and styling

Mitsubishi has released an updated ASX range featuring a new, more frugal turbodiesel engine plus some minor styling alterations.

Mitsubishi has updated its ASX crossover with exterior and interior styling changes and a new turbodiesel engine.

Changes have also been made to the trim names in the ASX range. They were previously named just 2, 3 and 4, but now the ASX’s trims start with ZC, followed by the mid-level ZC-M and range-topping ZC-H.

The new turbodiesel engine is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder unit that produces 112bhp and is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Both front-wheel and four-wheel drive are available with this engine. The new turbodiesel emits just 119g/km, making it the lowest emitting engine in the ASX range and meaning free Vehicle Excise Duty in the first year of ownership.

Other engines available in the updated ASX line-up includes an 115bhp 1.6-litre petrol and a 148bhp 2.2-litre diesel.

The exterior design changes, which apply to mid and high-level trims, include two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels and new wheel arch mouldings. Meanwhile, changes to the interior include a new three-spoke leather steering wheel. Standard equipment in the ASX includes air-conditioning, remote keyless entry and a USB port.

The Mitsubishi ASX with the new turbodiesel is priced at £19,499 when using front-wheel drive, or £23,499 with four-wheel drive. The cheapest model in the updated ASX range is the single ZC trim specification, which uses the 1.6-litre petrol and is priced from £15,249.
