New 2022 Ford Fiesta revealed with updated design and more technology

Popular supermini features various new safety features too

Ford has revealed a facelifted version of its Fiesta, which sees the best-selling supermini receiving a redesign and a range of new in-car and driver assistance technology.

Though styling changes aren’t major, the new Fiesta benefits from a revised front end with a higher bonnet line, while Ford’s ‘blue oval’ badge moves from the bonnet lip to the grille. Each trim level also gets a specific grille, with ST-Line models benefitting from a new honeycomb design to give it a sportier look, while the rugged-looking Active trim gets a wider front end to give it a more muscular stance.

LED headlights are also now fitted as standard – with glare-free Matrix LEDs available as an optional extra – while around the back, the lights get new black surrounds. New Boundless Blue and Beautiful Berry colour options are also available, along with a range of new alloy wheel designs.

Ford’s top Vignale trim level has also been discontinued, with a ‘Vignale Pack’ now available instead, bringing elements like larger alloy wheels, Sensico seat material and fancier interior detailing.

Inside, high-spec Fiesta versions are now available with a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster – as seen on the latest Puma and Kuga – along with a new ‘Wrong Way Alert’ that will warn drivers if they go through a no entry sign. Elsewhere, connected services allow the Fiesta to be fitted with a ‘Local Hazard Information’ feature that can warn drivers of any dangers ahead in the road before they reach them.

As before, efficient mild-hybrid powertrains feature prominently on the range, though Ford will also offer a regular 99bhp 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine.

Ford has also revised its Fiesta ST hot hatch at the same time, which gets the bold Mean Green paint colour that was introduced earlier this year to the Puma ST. It's also fitted with new ‘Performance Seats’, while its turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine gets a 20Nm torque boost to 320Nm.

The updated Ford Fiesta is now available to order, with prices starting from £16,620. First deliveries are expected at the start of next year.
