New Dacia Duster Commercial arrives as new low-cost alternative to a van

The new Commercial offers a mix of practicality and off-road capability

Dacia has introduced a new ‘Commercial’ model to the range of its popular Duster crossover, which aims to offer a “compelling offering to new van customers”.

Based on the standard Duster, it’s the second time this chunky model has been offered in a more utilitarian Commercial guise, and sees the rear seats removed to open up a cargo area that offers up to 1.5 cubic metres, and a maximum load length of 1.56m. It also has a flat floor with no loading lip from the tailgate, and has a payload of up to 492kg

It also gets a bulkhead fitted to separate the front seats from the load area, while a full-length load cover is available to make sure no tools are on display, though fixed rear windows and alarm are fitted for an additional security.

On the exterior, though, there are very few cues to show that it’s a commercial model, with the same choice of colours and alloy wheels available as the standard Duster.

Engine choice includes two petrol engines, a 89bhp 0.9-litre unit and a 128bhp 1.3-litre, while a turbocharged 113bhp 1.5-litre diesel is also on offer, bringing with it improved efficiency and lower emissions. By going with the diesel, you’re also able to choose four-wheel-drive for additional capability, as otherwise all models come with front-wheel-drive instead.

Two trims are available – Essential and Comfort. Standard kit is quite sparse, though you do get air conditioning, Bluetooth and electric front windows. Upgrading to the Comfort adds 16-inch alloy wheels, more attractive styling and a seven-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera.

The new Dacia Duster Commercial is now available to order, with prices starting from £15,309 and rising to £21,369 for the top-spec model. These prices are inclusive of VAT.
