New details on Alpine A110 released

More details on the new Alpine A110 sports car have been revealed following its first public appearance at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

The Alpine A110, made by Renault which is reviving a classic French sports car brand after decades of inactivity, is expected to arrive in the UK during early 2018. It will rival the likes of the Porsche Cayman, Audi TT and Jaguar F-TYPE.

It certainly won’t come cheap though, as its reported that the new Alpine will be priced from around £50,000, with more potent future derivatives costing at least £60,000.

It’s now confirmed that the new Alpine uses a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that’s connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The engine produces 249bhp and 320Nm of torque.

The A110 also weighs just 1,080kg - about the same as the current Mazda MX-5 – thanks to the extensive use of lightweight aluminium. Both the platform and bodywork are made of this material.

The turbo engine and light body means a 0-62mph sprint time of just 4.5 seconds, plus a electronically limited top speed of 155mph. A more powerful Renaultsport version of the Alpine with 300bhp is reportedly a possibility too.

Inside, the new A110 features sporty bucket seats, a touchscreen infotainment system and a blend of leather, aluminium and carbon fibre for the cabin finishes.
