Ford has also given the Focus Active unique driving modes so that it can go further off the beaten track than other models in the range – with Slippery and Trail modes added.

Slippery mode adjusts the traction control settings so that wheel spin is reduced when pulling away and the throttle response isn’t as sharp, while Trail mode allows the driver to maintain momentum on softer surfaces and also alters the traction control so higher levels of wheel spin is allowed.

The Focus Active will also feature adaptive cruise control, adaptive front lighting, active park assist 2 and evasive steering assist.
