New Jaguar XF to pull-off high-wire stunt

The new Jaguar XF will take part in a dramatic high-wire stunt a week before its official public debut at the New York Auto Show.<_o3a_p>

According to Jaguar, the new XF will set “new business segment benchmarks for weight and efficiency” and offer class-leading efficiency of over 70mpg.<_o3a_p>

The new iteration of the XF marks its second-generation, with the original XF being introduced back in 2007 and leading the sales charts in Jaguar’s current model line-up.<_o3a_p>

Re-built from the ground up, the second-generation XF is the second Jaguar model to use the brand’s new lightweight aluminium-intensive architecture. It is this lightweight construction that has lead Jaguar to create the high-wire stunt.<_o3a_p>

To showcase the XF’s “lightweight and agile credentials”, stunt driver Jim Dowdell – known for his work on the James Bond and Bourne film franchises - will drive suspended over water while balancing on two wires. These two wires, 34mm in diameter, will run under the wheels of the XF and mimic a tightrope feat.<_o3a_p>

Director of Design at Jaguar, Ian Callum, said: “I believe the all-new XF will be the best looking car in its class. Elegant, handsome and with proportions that imbue a great sense of integrity – the all-new XF will be true to the strong tradition of sporting Jaguar saloons while being completely of its time.”<_o3a_p>

The high-wire stunt will take place on March 24th. Full pricing and specification details of the all-new Jaguar XF will be revealed at the New York Auto Show on April 1st.<_o3a_p>
