New Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept Breaks Cover

The Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept is AMG’s bold vision of what electric performance can look and feel like in the near future. It’s not just a one-off showpiece – this wild concept previews the brand’s first all-electric supercar built from the ground up, riding on an all-new platform and packing extreme hardware.

All-Electric Power With Supercar Performance

What’s under the skin of the Mercedes-AMG GT XX Concept is properly wild: three electric motors chucking out a jaw-dropping 1,341bhp. One sits up front and two are out back, which means it’s got full-time all-wheel drive. Clever bit? The front motor can switch off so it drives like a rear-wheel car when the conditions are right – all about giving it proper handling feel.

The motors themselves aren’t your everyday sort either. They’re axial flux units co-developed with a British firm called YASA. They’re smaller and lighter than usual, but still ridiculously powerful. Jörg Miska, YASA’s CEO, reckons the torque is so savage it can make you feel queasy – proper stomach-turner, apparently.

Advanced Battery and Ultra-Fast Charging

Mercedes-AMG has bolted the GT XX onto its new AMG.EA platform – a brand-new base for future fast EVs. They’ve also fitted it with a cutting-edge battery that uses cylindrical NCMA cells and F1-inspired liquid cooling.

Then there’s the charging – it runs on an 800-volt setup, which means you can chuck in up to 248 miles (400km) of range in just five minutes. If that kind of speed actually makes it to the final car, this’ll be one of the quickest-charging EVs around. Handy if you’ve got places to be in a rush.

Aerodynamics and Lightweight Construction

The GT XX slices through the air with a drag coefficient of just 0.198 – proper slippery. That’s helped by loads of clever aero stuff, like underbody Venturi tunnels, adjustable AIRPANEL flaps, and smart cooling plates. Keeps it flat and fast, and adds a punchy look too.

Beneath all that is a mix of aluminium, steel and carbon fibre composites, so it’s strong but still lightweight. AMG says this setup will also be used as the base for other wild EVs they’ve got in the pipeline – including an electric hypercar and an SUV.

Minimalist Interior and Futuristic Displays

Jump inside the GT XX and the vibe is stripped-back but still futuristic. You get two floating screens – a 10.25-inch one behind the wheel and a 14-inch infotainment display in the middle, both running Mercedes’ latest MB.OS. It’s all been AMG-tweaked, with options focused on performance stuff.

The steering wheel’s a bit out there – looks more like the one from the AMG One hypercar and uses a yoke-style design. They’re planning on fly-by-wire steering too, so no traditional mechanical connections – just super-sharp electronics doing the work.

There’s also some mad lighting touches. Along the side, there’s electroluminescent paint that glows at night, and at the back there’s a 3D-printed LED light bar that can show info when it’s charging – or even custom designs

What’s Next?

This isn’t just pie-in-the-sky stuff – the GT XX is aiming to hit the road in production form by the end of 2026. After that, a performance SUV using the same underpinnings is expected to follow.

No clue yet on exact pricing, though loads of people – especially in the UK – are keeping a close eye out. YASA’s British tech gives it a bit of homegrown appeal, and it could tick a lot of boxes for those after an EV with serious punch.

A lot of folk are already comparing this to the petrol-powered AMG GT 4-Door Coupe – makes sense, as the GT XX looks like the electric replacement. AMG’s clearly trying to carry over some of that V8 theatre into the EV world.
