New Standard Range model added to MG ZS EV line-up

Latest model is priced from £27,495 after the Government’s plug-in grant has been applied

MG has bolstered its ZS EV line-up with the introduction of a new Standard Range model.

Priced from £27,495 after the Government’s plug-in car grant has been applied, the Standard Range model offers up to 198 miles between charges. This compares with 273 miles for the Long Range version.

The Standard Range ZS EV uses a 51.1kWh battery, which is 6.6kWh larger than the previous version. Because of this increase in size, it delivers 35 miles of extra range, yet thanks to 100kW charging is capable of a 10 to 80 per cent charge in 35 minutes.

The motor which is fitted to this Standard Range is the one fitted to Long Range cars, but it produces slightly more power with a total output of 176bhp.

There is a wide range of specifications to choose from too, with SE, Trophy and Trophy Connect offering plenty of equipment. Equipment levels stay the same regardless of which battery size is chosen, but MG says opting for the smaller-range version will bring a £2,000 saving on each specification.

MG Motor UK Commercial Director, Guy Pigounakis, said: “MG is already the go-to choice for customers looking to buy great quality, well-equipped and terrific value electric cars, but the new Standard Range ZS EV takes that offering to new levels.

“The Plug-in Car Grant may have been reduced, but MG’s commitment to delivering great value, world class EVs certainly hasn’t – the ZS EV offers unrivalled specification, range and performance for the money.”
