Nissan cuts the price of Nissan Leaf EV by £1,650

The standard 40kwh model is now even more affordable

Nissan has announced that it has cut the price of its Nissan Leaf 40kWh by £1,650 across its range.

It means that the popular electric car’s starting price has been dropped from £27,990 to £26,345 – increasing its appeal to buyers considering switching to an EV.

That low price buys a Leaf with a 40kWh battery – with a claimed range of 168 miles – in Acenta trim. While this might be the base option, it still comes loaded with kit – including an eight-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation and smartphone integration.

A whole host of safety kit has – including adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and autonomous emergency braking to name but a few.

The mid-spec N-Connecta is now available from £27,645 – adding a surround camera, heated seats and half-leather seats – with the Tekna costing from £29,345, and featuring LED headlights, a Bose sound system and ProPilot semi-autonomous driving features.

Nissan has also made slight spec changes, too – introducing rear USB connections to all versions, while also adding a cornering function to the LED headlights available on top-spec models.

Nissan has also confirmed that it’s secured extra factory capacity to build more Leafs – something that will be crucial as more motorists continue to switch from fuel-powered cars to EVs.

Nic Verneuil, marketing director of Nissan UK, said: “Nissan is always improving the competitiveness of its vehicles, ensuring customers enjoy a better buying and ownership experience.

“We’ve not only secured additional factory production to make Leaf more accessible, but as a result we’ve also been able to significantly lower the price tag of the car in market, making it more affordable. If customers are ready to make the switch, they shouldn’t have to wait to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle.”
