Nissan launches semi-autonomous ProPilot technology across Qashqai range

Following the tech’s appearance on the Leaf, the feature will now be available on all automatic Qashqais.

Nissan is extending its ProPilot driver assistance system further across the range of its best-selling Qashqai crossover.

ProPilot is a semi-autonomous driver feature that helps to keep the car centred in its lane, while also featuring adaptive cruise control that can bring the car to a complete stop in traffic and start the car again without any driver involvement needed.

The tech was first introduced in the UK on the all-electric Leaf at the start of 2018, featuring on a limited-edition model and the range-topping Tekna versions.

But now all automatic transmission versions of the best-selling Qashqai can be had with ProPilot, with manual versions still offered with the Driver Assist Pack, which essentially does a similar job, just without the same levels of stop and go capability. Both pieces of tech are a £595 option.

Kalyana Sivagnanam, managing director, Nissan Motor GB. Said: “The Nissan Qashqai has always been a leader in terms of innovative design and technologies that enhance the ownership experience. Our advanced ProPilot drive assistance adds a greater level of confidence, control and enjoyment to the UK’s best-selling crossover.”

Qashqais fitted with ProPilot start from £28,040, or £25,490 with the Drive Assist Pack.

The tech is so far fitted to more than 350,000 Nissans around the world, and is making Nissan one of the leaders when it comes to semi-autonomous tech.

The Japanese firm added that the X-Trail SUV (larger than the Qashqai) will be available with the technology later in the year.
