What Makes the Nissan X-Trail NISMO Stand Out?
So, it’s not about more power this time. Instead, Nissan’s gone all-in on handling, responsiveness and looks. The hybrid system stays as-is: a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that works as a generator to power two electric motors — one at the front, one at the back — giving you proper four-wheel drive. Together, they push out 204 PS (201 bhp) up front and 100 kW (134 bhp) at the rear.
What really makes it interesting are the upgrades under the skin. The suspension’s had a full rethink, with new springs and Kayaba Swing Valve dampers (usually found on high-end sporty motors). It should feel a lot sharper in the corners but still comfy enough for everyday drives. Nissan’s also tinkered with the e-4FORCE AWD system to make sure it transfers more power to the rear wheels when you’re pushing on through bends.
Dynamic Design and Aerodynamic Enhancements
Looks-wise, this isn’t your average X-Trail. It’s got a set of exclusive 20-inch Enkei alloys, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres (255/45R20), which help keep grip levels up and also cool the brakes more efficiently.
Nissan says it’s made a big dent in lift — down 29% compared to the regular version. That’s down to a reworked grille, new spoilers at the front and back, a chunky rear diffuser-style bumper, and those well-known red NISMO accents that nod to Nissan’s racing roots. Paint options are pretty bold too, like NISMO Stealth Grey with a Super Black roof, Cardinal Red, Prism White, Dark Metal Grey, and Diamond Black.
Inside the Cabin: NISMO Detailing and Optional Recaros
Inside, it’s got the same sporty vibe going on. You’ll find red stitching here and there, a bright red start button, and a flat-bottom steering wheel with a red strip at the top. Want to go all-in? There are optional NISMO-branded Recaro seats up front — they’re heated, power-adjustable and built to keep you firmly in place when you’re chucking it into corners.
There’s still plenty of the usual X-Trail tech and driver aids packed in too, so you're not giving up on the modern convenience stuff.
The 2025 Nissan X-Trail NISMO looks like a great mix of hybrid practicality and sporty character. It’s not faster than before, but with sharper suspension, smarter AWD control and a proper sporty interior, it puts a fresh spin on the midsize hybrid SUV.
The UK has already received the Nissan Ariya NISMO, which shows Nissan isn’t afraid to bring performance-focused hybrids and EVs to Europe. That means the X-Trail NISMO could follow at some point, but for now there’s no official confirmation. Either way, the excitement it has generated proves there’s strong demand for hybrids that combine efficiency with driving fun.
