Prices announced for 2019 Jeep Wrangler

The latest Wrangler has been updated and modernised, but still retains the car’s legendary styling and go-anywhere ability.

Jeep has revealed pricing and specs for its new Wrangler – the brand’s famed off-roader.

Prices for the Wrangler start from £44,495, which buys a Sahara trim model with the 197bhp 2.2-litre diesel engine. Overland and Rubicon trim levels are also available, with the latter topping out at £47,995.

Jeep says the new model is the most capable yet, and features ‘on-demand’ four-wheel-drive, alongside front- and rear-axle lockers and a limited slip differential.

While the Wrangler retains the same off-roading charm as before, the new model has been revised, and now features LED headlights and rear lights, along with an updated interior and a fresh engine line-up.

The 197bhp 2.2-litre diesel is the standard unit and is only available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. A more powerful 268bhp 2.0-litre petrol unit will be made available later in the year.

Safety and infotainment are perhaps where the biggest differences have been made, though. A new 8.4-inch ‘Uconnect’ touchscreen is fitted as standard, and offers Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. On the safety front, the Wrangler now comes with blind-spot monitoring, sensors to detect traffic when reversing out of parking spaces, as well as a rear-view camera.

A key thing about the Wrangler is the number of options to transform the bruiser into a wannabe-convertible. This can be done with a new electric powertop, or with the option of a removable three-panel hard top, or also a soft top.

Andrew Tracey, marketing director at Jeep UK, said: “Wrangler is the undisputed champion off-road, and now it is even better for everyday urban on-road driving. It’s a one-of-a-kind that has been completely renewed while remaining true to its original values.”

The 2019 Wrangler will be available to order from tomorrow (October 13) to mark the Wrangler’s launch weekend. It also comes with Jeep’s ‘5-3-5’ offer, which provides a five-year warranty, three years servicing and five years of breakdown assistance.
