Prices announced for new Mercedes-AMG GLB35

The new model is the latest in the firm’s performance SUV range.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed pricing and specifications for its new family friendly GLB35 model, which offers seating for up to seven.

Featuring the same turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine as models like the A35 hatchback and CLA35 four-door coupe, the GLB35’s unit produces 302bhp and 400Nm of torque.

And despite its increased weight over those two cars, the GLB can still accelerate from 0-60mph in five seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 155mph. It’s paired to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, with a ‘4Matic’ system able to deliver power to all four wheels.

Prices for the GLB35 start from £48,665, making it currently the firm’s most affordable performance SUV, though that will change when the more compact GLA crossover spawns an AMG variant later this year.

Standard kit is generous, with a large 10.25-inch infotainment display heading up the cabin alongside a digital cockpit with the same dimensions. Wireless smartphone charging, multibeam LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof and a Burmester sound system are further features fitted – each helping to justify this model’s place at the top of the GLB line-up.

The model also comes as standard with the impressive Driver Assistance package, which includes park assist, steering assist and blind spot monitoring to name but a few features.

The GLB is an all-new SUV for Mercedes, which aims to offer a more family friendly seven-seater at a lower price point than models like the GLE and GLS. The new AMG variant is on sale now, with first deliveries expected in early summer.
