Production-ready Ford Mondeo Vignale revealed

Ford has published details and images of the production-ready version of the Mondeo Vignale. Available in hatchback and estate bodystyles, this is the first car that’ll form part of Ford’s new luxury-enhanced sub brand.

The Ford Mondeo Vignale will be available to order in Britain from this May at the manufacturer’s new flagship FordStores, 54 of which are opening across the country. Pricing will start at £29,045 for the hatchback and £30,295 for the estate.

While the standard Ford Mondeo challenges the likes of the Vauxhall Insignia and Volkswagen Passat, the Vignale version has the ambitious aim of challenging brands such as BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar.

Differences with the Vignale compared to the rest of the Mondeo line-up includes numerous exterior and interior upgrades, plus luxury trim and additional gadgets as standard.

For the exterior, there’s a redesigned upper grille which is exclusive to Vignale models. The car also sports a redesigned lower grille with chrome bars, chrome door handles and door mirrors and 18-inch alloy wheels. LED headlights also come as standard.

Inside, the Mondeo Vignale boasts new noise cancelling technology to deliver a much more refined driving experience. This technology, called Active Noise Cancellation by Ford, is standard and comprises of three cabin microphones which monitor engine noise in the interior. It can direct opposing sound waves through the audio system to cancel out engine noise within the cabin.

Other highlights of the Mondeo Vignale’s cabin include the use of quilted and tuxedo-stitched leather. The standard equipment list is very long, featuring a 12-speaker stereo, Traffic Sign Recognition, Active Park Assist and the latest SYNC 2 infotainment system with voice command functionality.

Only the Mondeo’s most powerful engines are available for the Vignale version, so customers get a choice of either a 207bhp 2.0-litre diesel, a 237bhp 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol or an 184bhp petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. The hybrid is unsurprisingly the most efficient, averaging 67.3mpg and emitting just 99g/km of CO2.

Reports online suggest Vignale versions of the Ford S-MAX and Galaxy will follow the Mondeo in the near future.
