Rally-inspired Ford Fiesta M-Sport edition unveiled

The Ford Fiesta M-Sport Edition, a tuned version of the Fiesta ST hot hatch with extra power, has been revealed today.

This road car is inspired by the M-Sport rally team and its current car, the Fiesta RS WRC, which competes in the World Rally Championship.

M-Sport says that its partners at Permashine are behind this project, which takes the latest Fiesta ST and adds performance and aesthetic enhancements. The M-Sport Edition’s appearance is made distinctive by its black gloss rear spoiler and the blue graphic details on the bodywork which are inspired by the M-Sport rally car’s livery.

Other unique styling features include the custom steering wheel with Nappa leather and Alcantara trim and the carbon fibre gear lever insert with M-Sport logo. The embroidered seats also feature an M-Sport logo and the rev counter now sports an M-Sport logo too.

The most significant change with the M-Sport edition, however, is for the engine. Like the Fiesta ST, the M-Sport edition uses a 1.6-litre EcoBoost petrol engine, but now it comes complete with a Mountune upgrade that boosts output from 180bhp to 212bhp. The M-Sport edition also produces 320Nm of torque at 3,000rpm.

Other new components include a Quaife ATB limited slip differential for improved traction and OZ Superturismo 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels finished in matt graphite.

Further upgrades can be added optionally to the Fiesta M-Sport edition to enhance the driving experience even more. For instance, there’s a Handling Pack which upgrades the suspension to sharpen up the drive.

A brake upgrade, a cold air induction system for better cooling and a modified exhaust with a custom-made rear silencer are also on the options list. The latter option is made by the same firm which supply exhausts to the Fiesta RS WRC rally car.

The Ford Fiesta M-Sport edition will be a limited edition model, although some parts of it will become available to buy separately. Details on pricing, launch date and how many will be made will be confirmed at a later date.
