‘Rarest Jaguar Ever’ set to be unveiled at the Pebble Beach 2017

After two years of restoration work, staff at Classic Motor Cars are finally ready to unveil their ‘secret project’ – a 1954 XK120 SE by Italian coachbuilding legends Pininfarina.

After two years of restoration work, staff at Classic Motor Cars (CMC) are finally ready to unveil their ‘secret project’ – a 1954 XK120 SE by Italian coachbuilding legends Pininfarina.

The car itself was found by CMC’s Employee Ownership Chairman Peter Neumark who stated: “We always said that we would unveil the car for the first time at Pebble Beach and that is exactly what we are going to do.”

Neumark added: “I will have the privilege of taking the cover off the car at the world famous Concours d’Elegance in California and I think that car collectors and aficionados from around the world are going to be astounded by what they see.”

But how did such a rare vehicle fall through the cracks? Originally bought by renowned Austrian automobile importer, Max Hoffman, the car was unveiled at the 1955 Geneva Motor Show but seemed to disappear from existence, until a German owner listed the rare Pininfarina Jaguar XK on the market.

Claiming to have bought the car back in 1978, the owner had plans to restore beauty, but unfortunately never got around to it. CMC jumped at the opportunity and have spent the last two-years giving the car a full restoration.

The car is set to be revealed to the world on Sunday 20th August 2017.
