Renault ZOE gets new 149 mile range

Renault extends the range of its ZOE electric car with the addition of a new electric motor.

As part of a refresh to two of its electric vehicles – the ZOE and Twizy – Renault has engineered a new electric motor that extends the electric range of its ZOE supermini by almost 15 per cent.

The new R240 motor has been in the pipeline for the last eight years and, when fitted in the ZOE, can extend operating range to 149 miles in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). Renault says that this range translates to real-world driving of between 71 to 106 miles – around 64 miles in cold weather and 93 miles in normal conditions.

In conjunction with this new electric motor, Renault has revamped the ZOE’s trim line-up, with its kit levels now consisting of Expression Nav, Dynamique Nav and Dynamique Nav Rapid Charge. Standard features on all ZOE models includes climate control, Bluetooth, touchscreen sat-nav and cruise control. Dynamique Nav models add a rear parking camera, rear electric windows and some unique upholstery.

The most significant addition to the trim line-up however is the new Dynamique Nav Rapid Charge grade. Although featuring the same equipment as the Dynamique Nav model, it also offers the capability of achieving 80 per cent battery capacity in just 30 minutes via a 43kW fast charger station.

Prices for the Renault ZOE start from £13,445 for the Expression Nav model and rise to £20,545 for Dynamique Nav Rapid Charge models.
