Reservations open for new electric Peugeot e-208

A £500 deposit will secure a place on the model’s waiting list.

Peugeot has announced that reservations have now opened for its new Peugeot 208 supermini, alongside the all-electric e-208.

The French manufacturer says it has seen “unprecedented levels of interest from customers” for its new supermini, which was unveiled at last month’s Geneva Motor Show.

One customer even contacted their dealer on the day of the Swiss show to place a deposit – even before reservations had opened.

Peugeot is now inviting customers to register their interest on its website, along with proceeding to the reservation site where they can place a £500 deposit for a model.

Prices and specs are yet to be announced, but will be revealed when order books officially open for the car in the summer. Both variants of the 208 will then go on sale in 2020.

Customers who have reserved a car will then be contacted by Peugeot prior to order books opening, to allow them to decide on the trim of their car, along with having the option to buy the model online, as well as in a Peugeot dealers.

As soon as the first cars arrive in dealers, customers will then be able to test drive the 208 and e-208, and then have the option to cancel their order within seven days and get their deposit fully refunded.

David Peel, managing director of Peugeot UK, said: “We’re delighted that our all-new Peugeot 208 reservation site has now opened. This is a hugely exciting model for us.

“Not only does the all-new 208 deliver on our promise of sharp styling, uncompromising quality and an instinctive driving experience, but it features our first new generation fully electric vehicle, the all-new Peugeot e-208.”

Alongside the petrol and diesel models offered, the e-208 is the star of the show, with the model being one of the first all-electric superminis to go on sale, which will open EVs up to new customers.

The e-208 is powered by a 50kWh battery back, which allows for an electric range of up to 211 miles between charges, and the capability to charge to 80 per cent of capacity in 30 minutes.
