Revised Dacia Duster revealed with more technology and new look

The popular crossover benefits from similar upgrades to the new Sandero

Dacia has revealed an updated version of its popular Duster crossover, which gains more in the way of technology and a new automatic gearbox option.

The Duster was introduced to the UK in 2013 at the same time as Dacia launched, and has become known for its incredibly low price that makes it the UK’s cheapest SUV. A second-generation arrived in 2018, bringing chunkier styling and new engine options.

Now – following the arrival of the new Sandero – Dacia has revealed a revised version of its Duster, which benefits from tweaked styling and additional in-car technology.

The design hasn’t changed dramatically, though there are new Y-shaped LED headlights, a revised chrome grille and also a new Desert Orange body colour. There’s also a new spoiler and a range of new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheel designs, which all help to contribute to lower CO2 emissions.

But it’s inside where the majority of the Duster’s changes are, with a new eight-inch touchscreen system being introduced to higher-spec models, featuring satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are also new seat upholsteries and higher centre console that features a 1.1-litre storage compartment and USB chargers for rear passengers.

The engine choice broadly remains the same as before, with a range of petrol and diesel engines on offer, alongside a Bi-Fuel model that can run on both petrol and LPG – the latter helping to reduce fuel bills. On the top-spec TCe 150 engine – a 148bhp 1.3-litre petrol – a new six-speed automatic gearbox has been introduced, representing the first time an automatic model has been available on the current Duster.

A rugged 4x4 model is also available on the 113bhp 1.5-litre diesel engine, with a dedicated 4x4 monitor available on the touchscreen system, showing features such as altitude, pitch angle and incline.

Expect a slight increase on the outgoing Duster’s £11,995 starting price when further details are revealed in the coming months. Dacia has said the updated Duster will be available to order in late summer.
