SEAT Leon Cupra R ST special edition revealed

Based on the estate version of the Leon, the Cupra R ST is fitted with a 296bhp engine paired to four-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG transmission.

Seat has unveiled a special edition performance version of its Leon ST estate, called the Cupra R.

Fitted with the same engine as the Volkswagen Golf R, the Cupra R ST gets a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol that develops 296bhp and 400Nm of torque.

The unit is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Seat’s 4Drive four-wheel drive system – allowing the Cupra R to get from 0-60mph in just 4.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 155mph.

The Cupra R also comes with a specially-developed chassis setup that Seat says will help ‘improve cornering speed and handling performance’.

To distinguish it from the standard Leon ST, the Cupra R comes with copper detailing, 19-inch alloy wheels with copper hub caps, carbon fibre aero pieces and a series of exclusive colours.

Inside, Seat fits copper accents around the climate control vents, centre console and stitching, while the steering wheel and gear knob are trimmed in alcantara. Sports bucket seats, an eight-inch touchscreen, digital instrument display, keyless entry and a rear view camera are also included.

Prices for the model are yet to announced, but deliveries are set to be begin later in March.
