Skoda has shown off its latest emergency services vehicles that are ready to take to the streets.

The Czech manufacturer has 110 years of experience with supporting the emergency services, and the latest two cars to be rolled out to fleets are the Skoda Kodiaq and powerful Superb 280.

It describes the Kodiaq as its most versatile emergency services vehicle ever, thanks to its off-roading ability and practicality. Once the car has been fully kitted out, it includes LED signal lights in the front screen, grill, tailgate and number plate. It also features the essential siren – a 100-amp three tone one to be precise.

As well as the above modifications, Skoda can also modify the chassis to help it deal with the tough demands placed on emergency services vehicles. Medical technology, luggage compartments and a back-up electricity source can also be specified to help emergency services even further.

Alongside the Kodiaq, Skoda has added the blue light treatment to the Superb 280, which has been adapted for police use. The Superb 280 is the most powerful production Skoda yet, with its 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 276bhp, making it pretty nifty for emergency thanks to a 0-60mph time of just 5.6 seconds.

Henry Williams, Skoda head of fleet, said: “Time-and-time-again our emergency vehicles show the required versatility, flexibility and reliability to meet the standards of any operator. The Kodiaq is a high-performing four-wheel-drive SUV capable of tackling anything asked of it, so we’re delighted to now make this available to the emergency services.”
