Skoda teases concept for future compact model

Called the Vision RS, the concept will be fully unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and will be inspiration for the Czech brand’s sporty models.

Skoda has released advanced sketches of the Vision RS concept, which will be given its full unveiling at the 2018 Paris Motor Show in October.

The Czech company said that the concept is the “first glimpse of a future compact car”, while also being a preview for the future of the RS model range.

Measuring 4.35m long, this design study is of a similar size to the current Rapid model, which could be replaced in the near-future.

The design of the concept comes with many dynamic touches, including a two-tiered grille at the front, air intakes under the triangular front lights and sharp creases along the sides and on the bonnet.

The rear-end also conveys a dynamic look, thanks to a roof-integrated spoiler, angular rear lights and a red highlight strip sitting above the rear diffuser – much like the red detailing found on current vRS models. The Vision RS also comes with a bold alloy design that incorporates 10 elements.

Skoda said that the design was inspired by the brand’s successful rally cars from the 1970s and the 117-year motorsport history and tradition of the company.

The full concept will get its public debut in Paris on October 2.
